She is one of the nation’s leading experts on human interactions with autonomous systems, having appeared on such programs as “The Daily Show” and “60 Minutes.” Cummings studies aerial drones and drone policy, driverless vehicles, the interactions of human and computer decision-making systems and human boredom during long, mostly autonomous tasks. In 2017, she was appointed to the new U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Committee on Automation.
