Dorfman is a is an Argentine-Chilean-American novelist, playwright, poet, librettist, essayist, and human rights activist. His major publications include the essays How to Read Donald Duck, The Empire’s Old Clothes, and Someone Writes to the Future: Essays on Contemporary Latin American Fiction. His play “Death and the Maiden” was made into a film by Roman Polanski. He writes frequently on themes of tyranny and exile.
